Restoring VMs from Tintri Snapshot fails with an error

Applies To

Product(s)

Version(s)

Tintri OS

4.x.x.x or later

Description

When attempting to restore a VM from Tintri snapshot, it fails with the following error message immediately.

Failed to sync vm '[03076CDD-0BF1-8120-20A3-25126B0F87D8-VIM-0000000003D559D7]'.

SyncVM operation failed: VM ABCD has one or more hypervisor snapshots.

Resolution

We cannot have snapshots taken both by the hypervisor (VMware or Hyper-V) and Tintri for a given VM. In order to restore a VM from a Tintri snapshot, you will need to remove the hypervisor snapshot first.

Publisher comments: Search for duplicate, updated page summary, added errors, changed fonts for error text and renamed VMware to Hypervisor.
